My alignment guy suggested hollowing out the top hole at the bottom of the strut to allow for re-aligning.

If you do that, you will probably want to weld in the other side of the bolt once you get everything lined up to help stop it from shifting back.

thats what i did on one of my trackers that i run 33's on but my wifes will be driven dailey with the kids so no shortcuts plus its 2 wheel drive i just want it a little higher with 31's and maybe some bumpers all will be moved over once i find her a 4 wheel drive, i just could not pass this one up 98 tracker 2 door 16 valve 3 speed auto soft top needed head gasket 150 bucks, runs way nice now im mostly looking for 2" pucks for now
88' Zuk 16v efi full width dana 44 axles and 37"s,hybrid exo cage, comp cut rear -18", F&R fox air shocks , jegs poly seats, sk automatic trans, 6.5:1 t case, twinsticks, 100" wheelbase with a 79" wide.

Slotting the top hole is perfectly safe. In fact I trust it more than camber bolts. Some struts for other vehicles have this adjustment already made in the strut. I wouldn't weld directly on the bolt, I'd tack weld a washer in there instead.
