10" rims? URGENT!

10" rims? URGENT!

Tomorrow night, I have the opportunity to put 15x10" rims on my Sidekick, with 3.75" backspacing. Right now I have 15x8 rims with 3.75" backspacing but I don't like them. I am just wondering if it is a bad idea to put on 10" rims. I will be using mud tires, most likely 31x10.5 or 32x11.5.

With the wider rims you will have more chance of the bead coming away from the rim. It can be a pain in mud because the mud gets between the tyre and rim and the air gets out.

10" is great if you plan on running a 14.50" wide tire.

I've ran 33x12.50's on 10" rims for years with no trobles (down to 4 psi in moab). Be sure to make sure your wider mount wont get into your fenders. Of your back wheel now tucks inside the wheel well on compression, a 10" wheel will put your tire into metal.  Plus you may have to trim front or adjust your steering stops. I have no idea of how a 10.5 or 11.5 tire would react though.

Kinda late but I have 32x10.50 Swampers mounted on some 15x7's and yet too have a problem with them. And that is with them aired down to 3psi at times.

I read years ago that a narrow wheel will hold the tire better than a wide one. Seems to be holding true, at least for me.

I had the same rims on my truck with 31 x 12.50's . I had about 3" of lift and the tires ate my fenders for lunch even after I had trimmed them back .

Ok, so it turns out I was mistaken and the rims are actually 15x7, which is what I currently have so I am good to go. Thanks for the quick answers guys!
