how much weight can a trackick pull?

i'm not looking to tow things, just pull a small trailer with stuff in it.  Anyone have a rough estimate, you think 1000lbs is pushing it?  (the most i think i could fill would probably be like 500 though)

The manual says 1000 Lbs but I know that there are some people on here that exceed that.  The gearing will allow you to tow more but the vehicle itself is only 2200 Lbs so braking is a bit spooky beyond the 1000.

I pull 500 to 1200 lbs all the time with my 4 door auto, depends on how much uphill driving you would be doing, I also mix in clear gas with mine if I'm pulling allot of weight about a 50/50 mix If I'm on the road I can't find any I add a little diesel with it. this new fuel sucks and now here in Oregon their talking about 20% alcohol in regular but their also talking about a Senate bill for clear gas in super so it will just cost us more but at least it would not burn valves and eat up hoses and other rubber products in the mix.

Do you always use brakeless trailers? Even my little 550lbs tent trailer has brakes.

My LWB -92 Vitara (trackick) has a maximum trailer wheigt of 3800lbs (trailer with brake by law)  This is what suzuki has as a maximum number of what it can take (as far as I know)

no brakes on any of my trailers, they range from 200 to 1500 lbs empty, I even tow a 20 ton log splitter around with it, my m-100 (old military trailer/jeep trailer)  has parking brakes but that is it!

'93 tracker 1.6 8V 5 speed here

I have a homemade tilting flatbed trailer that I pull w/my tracker it weighs about 300lbs empty.  I have put 2 sport quads on it before at around 400lbs a piece so total loaded weight is probably about 1000.

Like everyone else said it pulls fine just need to downshift a bit but allow a lot more room to stop.  It got away from me once on a steeper hill in central PA.  I could maintain speed but not get it stopped until the bottom of the hill.  My engine has 255k+ on it so there's not much compression left to help :) and the brakes were not enough.

I would say anything over 1000lbs should have trailer brakes to be safe IMO.
