Cheap shocks Q's
« on: November 04, 2007, 12:00:17 PM »
I know crown vic shocks will work on my 01 vitara (w/ 2" coil spacer) with a little modification.. just wanted to know what else will work possibly better around the same price?  Also will longer shocks crush my spacers wheeling?? And Last Q!  will shock extenders hold up to wheeling ( well at least for a little while)??   Oh yeah.. wheeling for me is just dirt hill, rough trail and mild mannered mud! :-[
Thanks

i recently installed 95 mustang rear shocks on my 2dr tracker, so far so good.  they ride rougher than than my crown vics did for sure but might be a little smoother with the extra weight of your 4dr model as they ride nicer with some weight loaded in mine.  the mustang shocks are about 1.5inches longer extended and when compressed are the same length as the crown vics.  these shocks also bolted right up with the stock bolts, there was no need to find a sleeve for the bushing like on the crown vics.

1.5 longer than the crown vics of course!  in all honesty the crown vics were not sufficient in my opinion from the start, once i put my strut extenders on it was really obvious when the front had more downtravel than the rear of the tracker.

i use ones made for a ford f150, i cant remember where i heard that i should try them (search a bit on here).  but they work... almost too good.  looks like i need some stop straps.

2004 chevy tracker, 4door, V6
says 'Chevy' on the outside,
but its covered with lots of big 'S's on the inside ;)
