calmini 3in wtf
« on: October 19, 2007, 03:42:41 PM »
I just finished putting in my 3 in lift,#1 the directions were really limited.#2 Thank you zukipilot,robert_h,and-junior for your post they made sense and helped alot.#3  My question is my camber?,the tops of my tires are pointing out a bit. When I took it out for a test spin it was really touchy(the steering) and the tires would squeel around corners.#4 I had to swap my sway bar end links on the inside of the bar as oppossed to the outside. Has any one else had this problem with the camber and how do I fix it. ???

Yes, you have to swap the sway bar end links. You have done an alignment haven't you? The kit is designed for the weight of a winch and bar so if you don't have that then you will be riding higher and your camber will be out. Some camber bolts or slotting the holes and adjusting it will help. So will pounding on the suspension because the springs start to sag after a bit of use  ::) Just watch that your struts don't blow.

I did a quick alignment(the toe in/out)but I can't see a way to adjust the camber without special bolts or brackets.

Only toe in/out is adjustable unless you fit camber bolts.

How do I fit or where do I get camber bolts. I"ve  beat the tracker around the back yard and have lowered my boat trailer onto both the front and rear bumpers over night to put weight on it to "break it in"

NorthStar Camber Bolts
The fast and easy alternative to adjust camber. This unique design incorporates an offset internal sleeve working in conjunction with a full-size/high-strength O.E. diameter bolt (with matching internal offset) which allows camber to be increased or decreased by a simple turn of the bolt. Magna Cam allows the technician to accurately adjust camber with weight of vehicle on front wheels - no guessing as with other products that require the vehicle to be suspended while adustment is made.

$25/pr. from boondoxmotorsports.com

Hope that helps? I am sure there are many other venders carrying camber bolts.

The springs need to wear in. Any alignment shop will have the camber bolts you need, but many techs like to slot the strut instead, it is stronger. Have them get it close then go out and run it around on some rough trails for a few months. The more you use the suspension the softer the ride will get. Have it realigned as needed.

Oh, and if you call Calmini and they tell you to cut the coils, don't do it!

Totally Agree.
After wheelling a few times it almost leveled out.
Bought Winch bumper and winch later on.
Now I'm dead on Level (with rear cargo area empty and a full size spare wheel/tire)
Atleast Calmini Planned ahead.
Most companys that sell lift kits for rigs don't even think about the added weight of those things.
