I have a 1996 Tracker, 16valve/3 speed auto. I am on my second flywheel in 500 miles. It brakes around the reinforcement ring by the bolts. I bought this used, and it had been apart a few times before. I question if the right plate is in it. It seems there are two types the 3 speed is 9605897 and interchanges from 92 to 98. The 4 speed is 91172390 and only interchanges from '96 to '98. Does anyone have a physical description of them? The car currently has one with a dish shape, the one I have as a replacement this time is flat. It looks like the ring gears are in the same place, but with the flat one the torque converter engatement will be 1/2 or so less. The transmission has alwasy shifted funny compaired to our '93 Tracker. The shifts are late and the 2-3 is very late and quite harsh. Could this have been put together out of the wrong parts some time ago and I have enherited someone elses problems?
Who's the Guru here on putting misc. parts together?
PM please, I don't have good access through the company server.
