The amp internals came out of a 1991 suburban, some modes and we manage to put it in to the 2.0L 16v.

Cool....I wonder if there's a cheap way to get a bigger alternator into the 2.5L V6 Grand Vitara.  I got a quote for a custom 170 amp alternator and it would cost $850 including a battery capacitor and shipping.  Too much!!!!!

I can really not tell about the 2.5L, but as far as teh 2.0L 16V I does works really well and cost no more than $120 USD.

Need madly a set of ring and pinion for front and rear dif that will help solve problem with over sized tyres.

Is there any placer where to dig for it?

Depends upon if your truck is an auto or stick.  You might be able to put in the other's gears to help with the taller tires.  MIGHT.

www.car-part.com says that you have a 4.88 ratio right now and the sticks got a 4.62 ratio so they would be no help.

However I know the XL7's got a 5.12 front that should plug right into yours and that is also a common Sidekick/Tracker/pre-99 Vitara/Escudo gear ratio.  That would definitely help with the 2-3" taller tires.
