BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
Attention Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho Recreationists!
The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest is formulating a new travel plan that will limit ALL vehicle use to designated roads, trails and areas. As a first step in the planning process, the Forest Service (FS) will be hosting their first round of open house meetings during the month of March.
As you know, the FS published a new rule requiring the agency to formally designate a system of roads, trails and areas where motorized vehicle use would be allowed. Forest Service regulations and other laws require the agency to conduct a planning process in collaboration with the public to help design the designated system.
Information about the Rule, the road and trail designation process and timelines will be presented at the meetings. Also a summary of the Forest's existing travel management opportunities and current closures will be discussed. There will also be time to meet representatives from the Forest Service who will be on hand to acquaint people with the process, to discuss the existing travel plan for the area and answer questions.
A second round of open houses will be held later this spring and provide you with the opportunity to make specific comments and recommendations. The March open houses will be held at different locations throughout eastern Oregon, times and locations are listed below.
