P0400 EGR Flow fix?
« on: January 26, 2007, 06:02:53 PM »
I started getting an intermittent P400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow code.  using an OBDII tool it can be cleared and the EGR readiness code will set after about a day, but several days later the P0400 comes back.

any tips?  is this as simple as on the old TracKicks where you clean out the EGR port on the intake and the line leading to it?

It's worth a shot. That's what I did on my "97 Tracker. Get some good carb cleaner remove the valve and get to cleaning. Let us know how it worked for you might be good info for someone else.

found a page in the service manual about doing that very thing; the code comes on at highway speeds when you let off the throttle which is exactly what the manual says.  if it is not too icy cold this weekend I'll give it a try

My 2000 2.0 is doing the same thing, same code.  I got to the point that if the light comes on, I wait around 3 days and it does off by itself.  Let us know if it works.  Thanks Dave ;D

problem is that (at least on the 2.7L) the EGR valve is in the worst location -- behind/underneath the intake manifold, right next to the firewall.  it's hard to see, and impossible to get even a small screwdriver back there to get it off (held on by 4 screws).  so I may have to live with it for awhile and pull the back half of the intake manifold off in the spring to get to it.  >:(

I ran a half can of Sea Foam thru the brake booster line, but that won't do enough to clean the EGR valve.
