Fuel Injection issue
« on: February 07, 2007, 11:35:04 AM »
Hello all,

Got a problem with my 96 sidekick. Forst of all it wont start and some relay in the dash is making an awful ticking noise.
I found out that the Fuel Injection fuse under the hood was blown. I replaced it and it blew again. I replaced it again but with a 20amp instead of 15 and the kick started, the relay stopped ticking, but that lasted about 5 seconds and then the fuse blew again.

Any ideas......
I m about to start tearing the electronics of the fuel injection system.

Thanks
Joe

It could well be a fault in the ECM itself. However before condemning it I would start disconnecting the external circuits, pull off as many plugs as you can find and see if the fault goes away. Then start plugging stuff back in one connector at a time. Known problem areas are the O2 sensor (can go short circuit) and fuel pump wiring (top of tank and behind rear light).
