sidekick tow bar questions

has anyone ever put a tow bar on a sidekick front bumper?

i just installed a "universal tow bar" on mine and i think i have a pretty stong mount, but is the bumper itself strong enough?

tell me soon! i leave in the morning and i hope it holds up  :-\

I took the front bumper off my '93 'kick a year ago while rebuilding the engine (don't ask why, please  ;D )and it struck me as being as flimsy as the Samurai bumper.

The BEST way to attach a towbar is DIRECTLY to the frame, not the bumper itself.  Bumpers these days are not like the ones on your dad's 65 Chevelle - chome-plated steel.

Well you were asking for it - so ack why did you remove your front bumper, I just had to ask  ;D

ack - I am with you on mounting a front tow bar to the chassis - no other way is safe FULL STOP  :o

The front bumper is not very strong and it is not held on securely enough for towing either.

I bought may '93 4-door 'Kick JLX ($500) with a broken crankshaft bolt from a botched timing belt change. That is why I CONSTANTLY HARP in timing belt posts on always removing the crank pulley assembly by removing the 4 - 5 for ar TracKick - bolts that attach the pulley to the crank timing belt pulley!  This one of the most common problems that sick Samurais and TracKicks have!

In order to get a clear shot at the end of the crankshaft to remove the broken bolt from the crank, I had to remove everything that was in the way -- including the front bumper.
