No.

The GV didn't get the 2.7L until the new body style in 2006.  Had the 2.5L 99-05...even says so in BIG letters on top of the engine.  Only the XL7 had the 2.7L before '06.

The side plastic is standard on all GV's.  It could have been taken off or this could be a Vitara V6 and not a GV.

99+ Grand Vitaras and most Vitaras CAN NOT run 15" wheels due to the bigger brake calipers.

Where'd you run across this?  Sounds like someone either doesn't know what they have or is just dumb.

The biggest shocks and springs lift kit for these is about 2".  With that you can easily fit a 225/75R16 or 235/70R16 (both about 29" tall) on a GV/XL7 and 30x9.5R15's on a Tracker.  To get 31's you'd need at least a 3" body lift.  Our GV rubbed with 225's and a 2" spring spacer lift if you bumped it hard enough.
Not to mention with 31's you're going to have gearing issues and possible breakage issues if you wheel it hard.

I just 95% finished building up our '03 GV this summer and then on Friday it was totaled.  Now I'm starting over...

sorry to hear about the totalling..... i did not see it I want it I will need to replace my tracker in next couple of years so what I am looking for is no plastics steel rims 5spd pwr windows and a/c...this is going to be my daily driver and light trail toy I do not rock crawl but 31's are what I want on it, with a 3 inch lift. I do not like body lifts so I am wonder how to do it suspension wise......this is actually my 2nd choice vehicle. it would be if I could not find a good condition 04 Nissan Xterra. I know what I can do on the X so I am now researching the GV for comparison. I know they are different in size. but these are the only 2 mid size trucks I like and are reliable for me to own.

You could find a V6 Vitara (it'd be a search) which would be sans body cladding and lower optioned.  That's what I wanted but the wife is the driver 90% of the time so she got what she wanted, a plusher GV.

You'd get:
2.5L V6
5 speed stick or 4 speed auto (hard to find the stick)
low(er) options but then power windows, locks, AC, cruise, tilt, etc are about stock anymore
16" wheels, all of the V6 Suzukis get those because of the front brakes
With a swap to Sidekick diffs you could also put in lockers and/or regear to 5.12's.

I looked at the newer '05+ XTerras and was impressed with them and the Frontiers.  Like that they went to coils up front instead of the torsion bars.  They just cost too much for me.  You can get a hell of a lot of truck for the money with Suzukis.
