Can't get into 1st, 3rd and 5th?
« on: August 28, 2006, 06:29:05 PM »
I installed a homemade 3" BL on my 93 4dr 'Kick, flipped the strut mounts and installed 1.75" coil spacers. I removed the shifter to extended 3". Reinstalled it. Now I can't get into 1st, 3rd or 5th gear.

Anyone know what's up?

sounds like the shifter is hitting on the body. Remove the console & boot and anything else that blocks the view. I would think the two options are bend the shifter or expand the hole in the floor.

Guess I need to clarify. I expanded the opening enough to get into all the gears.....

Interesting.. Does it feel like it is hitting something? I can't imagine what else it could be. Mine's an auto so it wasn't an issue.

There is a plastic coupler that goes at the tip of the stick. It has fallen off and is rolling around in the shifter mechanism. Fish around with a coat hanger tward the rear of that mechanism (after removing the shifer) It may require you to pop the whole thing off the top of the trans. Its not that hard though. its only held on by 5 12 mm bolts.
