Do these cause any problems? Or are they a good way to get your tires off of your frame?

They are just about the same as backspacing.  I haven't had any trouble with the ones I picked up off of E-Bay on my tracker.

On my SJ I just picked up some wide backspaced wheels, since I needed new rims anyway.  I like backspacing better then spacers, but they both are going to put the same amount of preasure on your wheel bearings.  You just have two pieces instead of one.
