Quick Exhuast Question
« on: June 09, 2006, 10:30:48 AM »
Could I run a 2 inch calmini exhuast system without a Cat. Converter? Is there any sensors, or other problems I would need to worry about if I did this?

1991 2 dr. Tracker, Auto

Thanks

Yes! I am sure it will reduce your overall soundquailty [ personal opinion ] and will be much louder than if you keep your CAT on. You'll get better fuel economy but will produce more harm-full emissions. Either way if your running CALMINI your good to go! I plan too cut the CAT on my next machine and run the MINI system. Also have no AIRCARE here.

Your talking about the FULL SYSTEM? HEADER TO CATBACK?

I changed to 2" exhaust with no cat on my 92 and there were no issues.  Sounds a lot better too!!

Not going with the header. Just the exhaust.

I knew I needed a new muffler, but after my local exhaust shop got my truck on the lift they found that my cat was pretty rotten and I needed a new tailpipe section....So basically, I need an entirely new exhaust system.

I think I'll go with the filter combo...

Thanks for the replies.

if your cat is the right size you could just take a big screwdriver and hammer/chisel out the honeycomb inside.
