Electric Fan over belt driven fan, I want electric. Any help/suggestions?

I have been wanting to take out my belt driven fan for awhile on my 96 Tracker, and Im a little confused exactly how to do it.   I doubt I need a powerful electric one, I know I can mount it, etc, but what about some other stuff?   

Should I just take the fan blades and fan itself off, leaving the belt running nothing?   

or....

Get a new belt?

I havent really looked down there lately to see whats connected to what, so Im confused.   I just know that some guy Ive seen took out his fan and put in an electric in his Tracker, and he claimed it freed about 10 HP.   Im always looking for new ways to get power, and my fan is noisy as hell, always makes a constant squeaking sound that BUGS ME!   


SO, anyone done this?   Anyone got suggestions?   Can anyone give me a full description of what to do?    Thanks much!  ;D ;D

Look at the other electric fan thread for ideas. You will need to keep the belt and pulley in place to turn the water pump

Ok easy

First thing take the 4 bolts holding the clutch assembly and then take the fan then take the 4 nuts put them back on and tighten down the pulley.

Mount ur fan on the rad. Now ur gonna have to either tig weld a bung on ur thermostat housing or mount a fan thermo kit on ur rad. Makes a difference winter warms up cooler. Has more power and torque

you dont need an electric one, the stock one is more than enough. you will not be happy, you will have to upgrade your alternator as most alternators put out 45 amps and some fans can take almost that much. 
TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO JEEP HAS GONE BEFORE!

I do want one really bad though.   The warming up in winter faster thing and the extra hp and torque are well worth it to me.

I live on the front range of the rocky mts, and we have had a lot of wind this winter/spring.  I am really not likeing the lack of power in the Zuk.  Is there a noticeable increase in power going to the electric  fan?  Is the alternator really an issue? I noticed a diffrence going to the 235's.  I have a drop in k/n air filter, and have done the plugs, wires, and cap and rotor.  Next is the fuel filter and pcv valve.  I also need to get the muffler replaced.
The wind also would suck the gas mileage on my 200 mile trip every other week.

It will add some power, but it is very minimal.

I was going to go electric also...but ended up installing a fan clutch eliminator....

So my fan is always running...but the engine is much cooler

Hes talking utter nonsense, any power gain will be minimal and only when the engine is good and hot. At normal temperatures the fan is designed to slip/freewheel and consumes virtually no power from the engine. Grab hold of the fan and turn it, you'll see that it takes no effort at all. There is a bi-metallic spring in the centre, when it gots hot it locks the fan up. Even then its unlikely to draw more than 1 or 2 bhp, its just not that big.
Electric fans are good for wading though because you can fit a bypass switch to turn it off and it won't spray water all round your engine bay. I used a Citreon fan, I forget exactly how much current it takes, less than 10A anyway.
