umm the gm Quad4 was a 2.3L untill it was replaced in 1996 with the 2.4l "Twin Cam" motor.  But why would you want to put a FWD motor in a sami ? Especially one as unreliable as the quad4?

Stand down, MSG Arthur L. Lilley, your mission is now complete, may you rest in eternal peace.

As a long time member of j-body.org and owner of 2 LD9 powered (2.4L) Z24's.  i will second the question rfields asked.  Why would you put that peice of junk motor in a sammy?  do the 2.0L swap from trail tough....trust me it doesn't take much to get those sammies flying.

the 2.5 quad 4 was also in s10s as a rear drive engine.... maybe not called quad, bnut the exact same engine

come to think of it,  maybe it was the 4 tech engine.  I know my citation and celebrity had the same engine as the s10s

No wait, it was the iron duke 2.5

if you are going to do a swap, dont use a gm motor(especially their 4 cylinders). If you want a challenging swap that they dont make a kit for, put the xl-7s 2.5 or 2.7 liter v6 in your samurai, or if you want to do it the easy way, get a 1.6 8 valve motor and an adapter plate, and put that in you samurai. I have heard great things about the 1.6 8 valve swap, and I have had people wanting to buy my tracker to swap the motor into their samurai.
Runnin' it stock with 225/75R15s and an unmodified 8valve TBI motor (I need a doug thoroley header and a cam) (more power) (1.6 liters of madness) (vroom + sewing machine sounds)

Yep, it will fit, but it is tight.  I have one half swapped in, but I'm abandoning the Idea for something lighter.  The power is only fair, but tha t motor is heavy.  If some one wants I'll make you a good deal on a 2.5 w/ a T-5 2wd transmission, stock harness and computer.
These motors are the tech4, also known as the Iron Duke.  Decent motors, just I want to go a different direction.

sorry it is a tech four and the only reason i even thought of it was because i have a spare one just sitting around

its in an 88 grand am. and the sammi i just bought to play with is smokin pretty bad(2qts of oil in one week)

i thought if it wasn't to complicated i'd just throw that 2.5 tech4 in for a while
