timing belt problem
« on: March 22, 2006, 01:17:20 PM »
had to replace my water pump on a 95 sidekick 1.6 16 valve engine.  now  i have a squeek coming from behind the timing belt cover with burning belt smell. removed timing belt cover and retensioned the belt but did not help. any ideas what's causing this problem. car has 265 thousand miles. recently had blown head gasket replaced with new timing belt(less than 1000 miles since this was done). thanks for any help

Don't over tighten the cover, it's
probably rubbing the belt
