Front Diff Actuator 2000 GRAND V
« on: February 10, 2006, 11:27:50 PM »
Can anyone tell me what the air pressure should be when the 4WD is activated? I get a loud clunking in the front left axel when making sharp corners in 4WD. I have already had to change the carrier because of the right side seal failure. The clunk was there before. I thought with the entire front diff replacement (Used), the problem would be solved. I have tried another actuator but the pressure is the same. About 4-5 lbs. Is it possible that it could be the letf outer CV? The noise is only there in 4WD.

The CV's are always spinning on these (unless you have installed manual hubs).  You could always get rid of the diff actuator.

In 4X4 when making tight turns especial on hard surfaces (wet or dry) you WILL get a metalic clucking noise from the CVs
it's normal. ;)  89-98 vehicles didn't do this though, at least mine didn't.

The pressure should be 30-45 kPa. That is 4,3-6,5 pounds/sq inch.  ;)
