Good morning, can someone tell me what's a good shock for a 5" spoa? the local offroad stores trying to sell me Rancho ES3000's or ome kind of skyjacker shock.(I question their opinions because they mainly work on full size trucks :-/ :-/)
I know zuks ride ruff but don't want to get any worse. any help would be welcome as I might be driving without shocks for a coulpe of days, have to measure travel once the lift is in. (might buy kidney belt til shocks come in )

You say it rides really hard with NO shocks.  How the heck is a shock absorber going to SOFTEN the ride?  Yeah, yeah, they must call them shock ABSORBERS for a reason, but I never thought about this.  I would think that with NO shock, the ride would be really springy, and the shocks would dampen down the "oscillation".

The ES 3000 is a pro-comp shock, not a Rancho. Pro-Comp has earned it's name Pro-Crap for a reason! Skyjacker is a decent shock, but it won't last long. Bilsteins are probably the best for the money, but they are expensive. Doestch Tech makes a good shock for lighter vehicles, as do Old Man Emu. Rancho 5000 will give you a rougher ride, but will last, and Rancho 9000's are good shocks and adjustable.

I personally have some Gabrial shocks for a Ranger on the back of my Tracker. About 24-25" fully extended. Cheap, about 15-17 a piece, and they last for awhile and ride decent.

pro comp shock are not bad. It's just like any Brand they have there cheap ones and high end. Pro comp is owned by 4 wheel parts ware house so if you were looking there that is why they suggest that. The mx6 shock from pro comp is adjustible and is also ran on robby gordons race truck great shock. The es 3000 is comparable to the rancho 5000. As to softing the ride shocks controll movement in the suspension not soften it up they can make it stiffer with different valving.

Just to clarify my truck has shocks on it, I have to order new ones when I do the lift. so it could be a couple of days before I get the new ones. And I understand how they work (shock rated for a 1 ton truck don't absorb anything on a zuki, valving in the shock is way to stiff ajustable or not).

 Thanks for the help Chief, the Calmini shocks are probably the perfect set up but I trying to find local as I live in canada and the exchange + shipping/broker fees would kill me ( burnt almost 100 on UPS fees for my calmini header to get it to my door)

E-mail Calmini about the specs for there shock (Ext length, compressed length) and goto your parts store and look through there shock book and find one tht matches.
