Trackick poor heat? Must read!
« on: December 28, 2005, 02:04:58 PM »
My sister was having poor heat in her tracker. We tried a thermostat but no help. Engine temp was as normal as one would expect for this time of year. The coolant looked really nice and I doubted that the heater core was plugged but it looked easy so I thought what the hell. I removed the heater core hoses. I then took a garden hose and flushed both ways threw the heater core several times. Then I reattatched the hoses topped off the coolant. I didnt think It did anything as I did not see any crap flow out of the core but it did. The heat works great and it only took about 5 minutes.

I thought junk gets stuckin front of the core
and just keeps the hot air from getting out

Where is the heater core located in these that it only take 5 miniutes? I always thought cores were a pain in the bum to work on  ;)

If you are just backflushing the core, all you have to do is disconnect the hoses.  That's easy.

...removing the core is hard...

I think FL and no heat would be warmer tha MN with the best heat available :o I did look in your area when I was job hunting in the NW. Beleave me, there were many places with friends and wheeling I would of taken first (before South FL). Now that I'm here it's not to bad, except for not wheelin in a while :'(
