"no lift" look
« on: December 23, 2005, 07:16:02 AM »
I want to put bigger tires on my 97 tracker vert but I don't like the lifted look.  In other words, I don't want a lot of space between the fenders and the tires.  I want as much of the wheel wells filled with rubber as possible, kind of as close as I can get to 1bigtrackers sig pic :).

I know 235's will usually fit on a stock tracker but I'm thinking I want 30s and it would be my dream to have 31s.   I figure I can get wheels with more negative offset.  I heard of someome just using their stock tracker wheels on the wrong side, is that a possible solution or overkill?  I have no problems with rolling the fender lips, I've done that on a 240Z I had.  I could even cut a little if necessary and cover up the mess with rubber fender flares.

What I really want to know is, as I go up in size, what it the first thing I am going to have problems with, tire width, or tire hight?  Anyone think I can fit 31s with only different wheels and a little fender rolling or are 30s the best I can hope for?

Thanks!

I had 30inch superswampers on 8inch rims on my unlifted 90 Tracker and all i had to do is trim about 2 inches off of the bottom corner of the front bumber on each side and i had no rubbing at all after that

Stand down, MSG Arthur L. Lilley, your mission is now complete, may you rest in eternal peace.

I had 30's on mine unlifted with jeep CJ wheels, they were small 30's and they were worn, measured in at 28". They were close the hitting tha back of the fender, innder fender
My new/used BFG tires, are 235/75/15(28")on Samurai wheels, and they only rub on the frame, but were VERY close(when turning) to the bottom of the inner fender at the back of the front tire. even with a lift, they still rub the frame, but they were further away from that inner fender piece. A hammer would make more room.

i put some 33's on a stock tracker once, they JUST fit...little trimming and they might even turn  :P... except these were 33x13.5 or somethin weird like that, little to wide for the poor thing.  30's will fit with very minimal trimming

What'd you have to do to make the 31s fit?  Did you lift it?
