Of course it also depends on how it collapsed... What were you doing when it went?

As for rear springs, you might want to check Ford Ranger/Exlplorer/Bronco 2 front coils. They might be real close...
Spring rate would be way off... I think whitfield is using these in the front of his rig... and I remember seeing that they're around 400lb/in or however they're measured, compared to the 150lb/in that a stock rear coil is.

Realredwagon is running explorer coils on his rig... not sure anymore which end he's running them on, though...

Legionnair: what were you doing when the spring collapsed? Did it drop as soon as you put the truck's weight on it, did it drop while traversing a speed bump at the mall or were you out in the woods when it happened?
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

Seriosly, what the hell did you do when you collapsed the coil? Please tell, I must know! :o I am running the wrong shocks (flatens the coils to solid) and on an over weight kick (3500lbs) and I have had no problems at all.

I was just running through a small trail in the woods not even in 4x4
and articulated a little and when I came back out i heard a bang as the spring slipped
back on to the saddle
first it was like 4 inches shorter so if you articulated it would come right out
then I was in the woods and it fell out so i used my winch an tied it to a tree and stretched
it now it is only 2 inches shorter it isn't falling out and it has been a month
but it still plauges me ???
OOps, owell thats just the fender

Did you extend the bumpstops or leave them stock?

That might have contributed to the problem. Doesn't the Calmini kit include bumpstop extensions?

Even if it does ( I dont think so) I doubt it would be the problem. Mabey he just really got a bum coil.  :-\

I reread the parts descriptions on Calmini's site and the 2" kit says it includes rear bump stop extensions, but the 3" kit doesn't mention them. It does sound like a bad spring for sure.

I wonder why the 2" kit includes the extensions(you can even see them in the pic)and the 3" kit doesn't(not even in the pic) :-\ ???

because the 2 is just a lift it isnt made for big articulation
the 3 is made for the articulation
and I have looked over the parts list for the kit no mention
of anything to do with the bump stops
OOps, owell thats just the fender

OK not trying to state something crazy but was one side on the front realy hard to get the strut attached? and/or does the front ride realy stiff?

(thinking front spring in rear on one side :-\)

Zig

If possible count the # of coils on each spring in rear, does it match?

that is crazy first of all they are different sizes and lengths
and I am not that stupid
I know its the temping of the spring was not done right
because the bottom of the spring where it sits on the saddle is starting to flare out

Anyways I bought a spring from calmini and I am going to send the other one back and they said they would refund me the money

I can confirm that the 3" kit doesn't extend the bump stops.
Glad to hear that Calmini is sending legionnair a new spring!
