Hi

I was wondering if any one had this problem happen to them . I have a 93 kick 16valve. I was going down the road a it just quit if you let it sit for a minute with the key on it acts like it wants to start. sounds like a fuel filter to me, I changed  the filter still doesn't work. It doesn't seem to have any fuel pressure I dont hear the fuel pump when I turn the key on. I checked  the fuel pump relay and it check out ok ,I guess its the fuel pump after all . Anyone else got a better idea?

yep that is your fuelpump for sure i just did this last week on my 92 tracker hope this helps

Thats what I think ,thanks. I've got it apart is the fuel pump a dealer item or can I get it from a parts store?

I would say that since you have the pump out, connect it's wires directly to the battery briefly to see if it runs. If it does, and I suspect that it will, it's your ECM. I just went through this with my Green Tracker. Pump was fine, the ECM was bad and it was doing exactly what you described... Get it re-built(the ECM) and all should be well...

I hook up the pump to a battery but it did not work, nothing happened. I'am still leaning towards a bad fuel pump.

If you gave it power and it didn't work, then it's probably bad. You can get a new pump from the dealer for mega $$$, Advance Auto can get them for $279(which is half the dealer price) and you can find them in junk yards much much cheaper... In any area that has lots of vehicle rust to deal with, be extra gentle with the cap/housing for the fuel pump. The fuel lines on top are easy to break off and will rust through pretty quick. While you have the pump out, I would clean up the cap and paint it with rustoleum to keep it from rotting out any more...

try aftermarket or performance shop, probably set you up cheaper

Thanks for all the replies. I was messing with the pump today spining the impeller and then hooked it up to the battery and it started working. I don't trust it so I'll still replace it because I drive 80 miles round trip a day and its a long walk between towns here in central Oregon.
