A Heavy Duty Engine Degreaser would be a good start.
Just spray it on and give it a few minutes to work and hose it off.

Laundy soap works great on concrete. Ive never tried it in asphalt.

I have used "Purple Power" and that worked pretty well. I think "Simple Green" would also work well.

I think the product is called "Oil Dry".  It comes in a bag like kitty litter (kinda looks like kitty litter too).  If you put it on while the oil is fresh and work it in with the sole of your shoe, it does a pretty good job of drying it up.  

If it has had more than a day or so to soak in, it will leave a spot.  Asphalt is basically just thick oil, and oil will soften it over time.

oil soaks intoi asphalt, and affects its physical properties, different from concrete

plain old kitty litter will absorb oil (not the "clumping litter, the cheapo "non-clumping" is best) ...

As other said tho, asphault will also "absorb" (and disolves in) oil, so it'll never all come out.

Detergents, not degreasers are
best, degreasers have solvents
that can harm the asphant worse
than the oil you are trying to lift off

I would start with plain old sawdust, to soak up as much oil as possible.  Then the detergent.
