Green Goblin Wheelin on new shoes!
« on: May 05, 2005, 01:45:03 PM »
Tuesday afternoon I made the drive to wheeling WV to pick up a new set of 33" Swamper TSL's for the Goblin. This morning after work I finally got to get them mounted. I had to do a little trimming and floor pounding, but I really like how they look!

Here I am standing next to it. For an idea of how big this thing is now, keep in mind that I'm 6'5" :o

Here's a comparison pic from before it got the coil spacers and 33's. It's running just a 4" body lift and 31's in this pic:

Let's just say I like it a lot! Next up for it will be rocker/sliders and a custom bumper/skidplate/winch mount similar to the silver Tracker...

So what do you guys think? ;)
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

Chief, you could probably stuff 33's under there with just 2" of lift... You'll just have to give up a couple little things, like fenders, quarter panels and floorboards... LOL!!!

HotRod: the rims are 15x8" steel wagon wheels off of a '72 Bronco. They have approximately 3.5" of backspacing. These rims are heavy duty! The center webbing is really thick and straight to the outer section, no rounded curve like most wagon wheels I've seen. They came from the junkyard with the 31's on them for $50 :o

Lilred, stock gearing and it goes just fine. I need to gear down on big hills on pavement to 3rd, but it still goes pretty good!

Speedracer7c: The lightbar I made myself. It pivots forward to allow me to open the roof normally, then pivots back and tightens down. It shakes in the wind and isn't the most sturdy design, but for lightweight plastic-housing lights it seems to work fine...

I guess according to Jeff Foxworthy, I are a redneck!! cuz the tires on my truck cost more than the truck! LOL!!!

The lower end plates are mounted to the flat spots on the roof just behind the raised area above the windsheild and in front of the funky side flaps on the sunroof section of the soft top. Imagine "L" brackets inline with the car that wrap under the side edge of the softtop and just clear the top of the door frame. I'll take pics of it tomorrow in the daylight if you wanna see them. It's kinda hard to describe...

I had thoughts of making a few of them, but I'm not happy with this design. This is a prototype tester. I have a different design in mind for the next evolution. It will incorporate a cage protecting the lights and will be much stronger while still keeping stock functionality of the soft top. The next design will be able to hold big, heavy off road lights without much if any shaking...
