O/D Off light flashing on my dash
« on: October 27, 2003, 03:46:56 AM »
Hello al,

I was driving to preview a piece of property and all of a sudden my O/D off light started flashing at me. I drive a 1996 Suzuki Sidekick JLX with an automatic. The car still drives fine, just have concerns about what kind of effect this could have on my transmission. Does anyone have any ideas???

To all of my local San Diego County residents, I hope that your homes are safe, and just know that my thoughts are with those whom have lost so much during this crisis.

Yeah, you need to take it to a transmission shop that can put the tranny on a computer and read the codes.  Then they can tell you if its a sensor or a mechanical problem.  Also, check your tranny fluid, if its pink then you should be ok, if its brown and smells burned then you're looking at mechanical problems more than likely.

Good Luck! Joe
