ALMOST A DISASTER!
« on: October 25, 2003, 05:56:19 AM »
Well, I just found that my steering rag joint was riped almost in two! This was a replacement from the "help" section in most auto part stores. Please check yours once in a while, it would be a bitch to lose your steering! I guess I will fire-up the lathe& mill to see if I can make a better product! ;D

Go back and get a refund......then stay away
from that Taiwan Crap, especialy where it's
a saftey related item.... geezz you could have
been a sardine...in a tin can :-/

My steering gear is U-Joints on both sides,
look for some used ones from an 89 Kick
from Hawks.. They will hold and they aren't
rubber tire leftovers.

I almost had a disaster too , I have a 87 sami , finished the spring over , put in the z bar eliminator , took it out to see what it would do .. got home to clean up my mess swep the carport and guess what I found ? :o
a cotter pin the goes into the steering arm .. talk about glad it didnt come apart . at least yours wouldnt have been your fault ... maybe Im getting to old to remeber everything , well maybe Im just lucky enough to find it before anything happens ..
But Im glad you figured yours out too ..

It's a U-joint made out of what looks like
tire leftovers, or a Semi Truck mud flap.
Rubber bonded together with fibers inside.
