Tips for sluggish 2003 Tracker?
« on: April 12, 2021, 12:08:04 PM »
Hey Zuikworlders!

This forum has always been so helpful, thought I would post with a general question! My 2003 Chev Tracker (235,000km) has gotten slightly sluggish in acceleration recently. Is there any maintenance you have done/might recommend that helped with your vehicle's pick up? I have been taking care of alot of general maintenance (AT flush, new fuel filter, air filter, reg oil change, change front diff oil), but was wondering if there is anything that worked for you? Thinking maybe some new sparkplug if you have any brand you like, would love to hear!

Any tips appreciated, thx in advance

One of my fellow moderators on another forum is in the habit of firing off a series of questions - I'm going to take a page out of her book - at 235,000 km would be considered as quite high, so a good place to start would be with a compression test, so let's get some wet & dry tests done.  It's also a good idea to let us know the details of the vehicle - a 2003 Tracker could have a 1.6, a 2.0 or a 2.5 liter engine.

Hey Fordem, thx for the recommendations as always! It's a 2.0L engine - have not done any compression tests, so will take you recommendation and get those done. We take this vehicle on logging roads way back in the mountains, so every year I try to stay on top of any issues. How many clicks you rocking on your Tracker? Hoping to go well in 300K km, but we'll see :)
