I have stock tires so i dont' have the gearing problems.  But i've done 120 in mine.   Was traveling from outside bend to Burns area in oregon on my way to the steens..  I was doing 80-90 up hills and 120 down...  it took some time and reving to the max.

I got up to 140 on a slight decline in nevada by Walker lake.  that was quite a shakey ride.

But sometime i do just lack power and feel i should be getting more.

Damn, what kind of engine do you have?? It wasn't being towed by another vehicle by any chance?

I think you may want to check your idle circuit. It should be set at 600-800 rpms for warm idle. Sometimes the cold idle adjustment is too high and it will hold the carb at a higher idle even once it warms up.

HEY ERIC,
How do you do this? Mine went about 6 months reving during warm up and noe it just idles high. Real high 2000 warm up and the 1000-1500 normal?

Boy I'm glad i saw this post...its something I've been wondering about.  I run my tracker with stock tires and a 3 speed tranny 180 miles round trip 4 days a week and I run between 70 and 80 MPH, RPM's are around 4000-4500 and it seems to be about 3/4 throttle.  Its a little sluggish but will stil accelerate at that speed.

Highest I have had mine is about 90 ish.  And everyone else said it right--the wind does create havok on the interstate at high speeds....

The only way my Sammy has EVER hit 90 is when it is being towed behind my Explorer!  Wide open, held back in 4th I'm lucky to hit 60 on the flats.  Hills are at 45 max in 3rd gear.  Wind plays havoc with my truck at any speed over 15 mph, but then again, it does sit up a little  ;D
