"creeking noise"
« on: May 13, 2005, 12:43:25 PM »
hey group. thanks for all your help. heres another ?. after i installed my tj spacers on my 92 tracker(2in) when i start to move or turn the wheel i hear"creeking" sounds from the springs(i think) . any idea y? is it just the sound of spring on the spacers?also previously i mentioned my tires tilting in after driving but out when i backed up. everyone said i should have been leaning out after the lift but im not . in fact i just re adjusted by pulling the tops out and tighting my strut bolts when i got my wheels "level"(by using a level) and she handels and rides better than ever. any ideas why mine was different than others? thanks

I don't think it is different than others. It sounds like you may have a toe and/or alignment problem which may be caused by worn out front end parts. Inspect stuff and pay close attention to the idler arm.

Good Luck, Eric

Your springs don't turn when you turn the wheel so you should look elsewhere for the source of your creek.

Places to look: (anything that moves when you turn)
Worn out strut mount
bad strut
bad ball joint
steering linkage; Tierods, draglink, idler arm
Also check to see if you have any bent steering components that may be rubbing on somthing.

I'm sure I missed some things but those are good places to start.

Body mounts often squeak, especially if you have a body lift.
