there should be a newb questions post stickied it would save me hours of torment trying to find the answer to something and then still having to ask the question anyways  ??? :)

Here's the questions can somebody please explain lockers to me and how they work i understand they are used to completely lock the rear or front end so that both tires turn together but beyond that i am lost and also manual hubs i know what these are i thinks to put ure vechile in 4x4 u need to get out and turn these i remember them from a truck my uncle had when i was a kid but beyond that i am lost what is the advantage of manuals vs. auto it seems auto just makes life easier

Auto Hubs Suck, they break easier and unlock
when you don't want them to.

Lockers allow the diff to let one tire turn different
speed than the other, yet when both wheels spin
the same speed locks the axles together as if it
were a spool.

Spool eliminates all spider gears and just puts the
power to the ground with no differential effect, also
breaks axles if you get big tires so a spool is not
good for on road use.
