TOKYO -- Suzuki Motor Corp. aims to more than double its North American car sales by 2007 to 200,000 units by introducing new models and spending some 30 billion yen ($274 million) to renovate existing dealers, a newspaper said.
Japan's top minivehicle maker, held one-fifth by General Motors, will also increase its number of dealers in North America by 12 percent to 600 and introduce two sport-utility vehicles there in 2006, the Nihon Keizai said on Tuesday.
Suzuki, also the world's third-biggest motorcycle maker, sold 82,000 vehicles in North America in the year ended in March. The automaker in May targeted sales of 250,000 vehicles in that market in the year ending March 2010.
Suzuki Motor could not immediately be reached for comment.
