Welded Rear Diff...How bad is it, really?
« on: May 27, 2018, 09:22:24 PM »
So I have been looking at locker options for my ‘Kick.  To be completely honest, I understand that the ARB is just the bee’s knees, but I flat out cannot justify dropping more on a locker than I did for the rig.  Maybe down the road it will be something I can justify, but it isn’t today.  I know a Lock Rite is an option, and one that I could justify spending the money for.  But it seems like there are just as many people unhappy and happy with them...popping, noise, unpredictable behavior.  And it seems like most people with them still have to deal with tire chirping turns, plus extra banging around when the tires aren’t chirping.  I think I would much prefer predictability and knowing exactly what the rig is going to do over not.  I am not worried about strange looks from tire noise...if I was concerned about strange looks I would never leave the house!  So anybody out there daily driving on a spool or welded diff?  Comments or thoughts?  Like I said above, the price on the lock rite is fine, but I don’t want to spend it on something that either won’t work like I want, or causes more problems for me.
