Bad flat towing
« on: December 31, 2016, 12:11:08 AM »
Hello, I have an 1986 Samurai. The problem that I have is that my Sami is not following when I tow it. When I turn RV to the right or to the left the sami's tires are turning to the opposite direction. Previous owner said that he never had issues towing this car. He said that he lift it to 2" or 4" in. ( I cannot remember ). He put 4 new oversized tires Dakota M/T Definity LT235/75 R15. And after those changes he didn't tow it anymore.  I'm attaching a photo so you see where he was attaching the tow bar to the sami. The tow bar is homemade that attach to a 2" ball. I wonder if someone had this problem before. Any help would be very much appriciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Make sure the F/E is aligned correctly, have the steering wheel free, (even if the key has to be on) I disconnect battery because that is in accessory position, have the front hubs in free wheel, & remove the rear drive shaft, If you put the transfer case in "N" all the stuff still turns, that's why I pull the shaft. Just came home on a 800 mile trip, It will flat toe at any speed as long as the wheel bearings F & R are good. I'm towing a 89 sidekick done it for 9-10 years.
