Exhaust spewing black soot?
« on: November 17, 2012, 06:52:00 AM »
I started my 88 Samurai yesterday to show it to someone, and it began spewing a black sooty substance from the tailpipe.  Does anyone know what causes this?

Yes, excessively rich condition. Could be over choking or needs a tune up. If your ignition parts are old then you might want to inspect or replace and check the choke adjustment.
