vitara 2.0L release bearing
« on: August 08, 2012, 11:49:25 AM »
seems like it cant be bought seperate from a clutch kit at my local part department store.but dealer can only sell them seperate, they told me it was a discontinued item for them. i hate putting in a new clutch kit as the clutch is fine and its only an wood beater and maybe got a year left on it. is there any other make that is the same or older 2.0L sidekick fits?

As a note, the release bearing part # for the Vitara 2 liter is different than the TIMKEN part # for a Tracker 2 liter release bearing.

I looked that up yesterday, and I believe it's incorrect - that Timken part fits my Swift, and I believe it's quite a bit smaller than the one of my 2.0 Grand Vitara - trouble is, I couldn't find the old bearing I took off the Swift to compare.

The pictures of the Timken do not look like the old GV bearing (which I did find).

The bore size does seem a bit small.  I was thinking it was more on the order of 1 1/4 to 1 1/2"s.  I just looked at my old 5 speed input shaft and it looks larger.

well i landed up buying a clutch kit. in the kit they gaved me 2 pilot bearings and two alignment tools, one that was very smaller than what i needed. as suspected my realease bearing was bad and the clutch disk was like new. the shaft were the pilot bearing slides on was sticky. the old grease have harden up and made the bearing stick on the shaft. anyhow now with the new transmission and clutch kit its like a new truck again :)
