Chasing shorts can be a challenge but it's actually really simple. I take another headlight, install some leads off the terminals and then remove the fuse that keeps blowing. Take the two wires and install into the fuse location (in series), if you have a short the light will be "on" go around disconnecting connections on the circuit until the light goes out. Using this method, makes the light take the load and will not melt or smoke wires. When your light goes out, you know you have located the short on that section of the circuit. It sure beats a hand full of fuses! Always start with the simple connections first, ones that don't take much effort to get to.
