Front Hub/bearings
« on: April 19, 2004, 09:26:25 AM »
Boy I wish I had registered/introduced myself when I started lurking around here a few weeks ago.. Now I have to start out with a dumb question right off!

I have never had the front hubs apart before, but when I noticed some side play in the L Front wheel I pulled it apart and found the lock washer for the spindle nut had broken and let the nuts back off a bit... anyway I'm getting off topic... the goo in the hub area was awful thick... looking for the rebuild kit online, I see Seals....  Seals that go inboard of the bearings it looks like.. so are the bearings packed in Grease.. I guess I was under the impression that they were (like full floating rears) bathed in the axle's gear oil... SOOooo do I re-pack the bearings in grease when i find a new lock washer?

On A ???  Sammy ya re-grease, I like the
idea of oil bath but I don't know if it can
be done without problems.
