where does this line go????
« on: March 12, 2012, 05:09:05 AM »
Just replaced the engine in my 97 tracker auto 3speed with a engine out of a 98 tracker and I'm haveing a few problems. There is a steel line that comes up from the tranny with a rubber hose on it. I think this line hooked to the back side of the fuel inj manifold to a brown colored sensor. The new motor dosent have that sensor. What do I do??? Not even sure thats where that line hooked up but I cant find anywhere else it could have. Also I have a couple of wires that Im not sure where they go.They come off the main harness down toward the starter, they both have the tabs that you put a bolt through one a little bigger than the other(maybe grounds) any help would be great.

I take it you have a auto trans and the donor engine came from a standard transmission truck. That line is a vacuum line for the Auto trans, another source can be fabbed up. You will also have to swap over the TB as well because of the kickdiown cable.

Maybe I'm in over my head! Where can I run that tranny line? And for the kick down cable,I changed the linkage so the cable would hook up but I guess that wont work?

As long as you swapped either the TB linkage or the TB it will work, you will probably have to do some adjusting, but that is covered in the FSM.

All you need is a vacuum source for the transmissions vacuum modulator, either swap the old 97' auto trans manifold on or use an existing vacuum source on the 98' manual trans mani(or create another).

Ok I will see what I can do thanks! On to the wires from the harness. Is there a ground wire that runs to one of the starter mounting bolts?I have two wires not connected and I think this might be where one of them go.

There is DEFINITELY a ground that should be grounded to a starter bolt.
