Most waxs provide huge amounts of traction, you wouldnt load up the top of a surf board with something slick, you apply wax for the added grip it provides.

One thing about the zuki's is that the alt belt travels right under the coolant outlet and just a few drops of coolant contamination on the belt will make it squeal like a pig. make sure any buildup on the pulleys is cleaned off when changing the belt.

Some belts will also contain different combinations of rubber etc and will be overly hard and slick untill warmed up

I have bead blasted pulleys(dont use sand) to remove surface contaminations.

Not to throw a wrench in any ones theory.
Start the rig (cold ) so it starts squealing.. Open the hood so you can determinen what is making the noise..IE: bad belt , bad bearing in water pump, bad bearing in alternator, bad pulley alignment....etc.
Over tightening a belt can and will add to much load to the alternator front bearing. This causes premature bearing failier in lots of alternators...We see it in the shop all the time....
Also never ever paint the belt track in pulley.
The noise in question is caused by a load somewhere in pulley  belt system...Locate that and you will have solved your problem..
God Bless

My 88 does the same thing occasionally on start ups.  From what I can tell, I think it's a tad bit of oil that gets on the belt once in a while causing slippage.  Mine only occasionally does this, hence my oil theory, cuz my engine does like to leak!

You may have a pulley out of alignment.  New belts will make the niose go away (for a while).  If it comes back sooner than normal belt wear can explian I'd say that's the original problem.
