150,000 miles + SeaFoam = NO Smoke ???

Well, some of you may remember my poor compression numbers:

#1 = 170 PSI
#2 = 160 PSI
#3 = 165 PSI
#4 = 60 PSI

I thought since (as far as I know) the engine has 150k miles on it, maybe I've got some carbon build up on the intake valve.  So, I tried a third of a can of SeaFoam (like the directions said) and got no smoke at all.  I was surprised and a little disappointed.  I was hoping to see 5 or 10 minutes of serious white smoke and then I was going to do another compression test and see 170 PSI in # 4.  Oh well.  Maybe I'll use a little more someday; I'm a sucker for Snake Oils.

Yup.  If I remember the instructions, it was: use 1/3 can down the throttle body with the engine running & warm, shut it down for 5 minutes, start it back up and watch the smoke.  But, no smoke.  Like I said, I may try again someday, but I don't have my hopes.  I just figured I'd take a stab at it.

BTW, has anyone ever tried using a trickle of water down the TB?  I've heard that starts blowing carbon off instantly.

I've heard of that trick, but every time I heard it, it was in reference to a carbed engine... I dunno if it'd work on EFI

Yes it works on EFI too, like steam cleaning
your pistons, it also can get water into the oil
so go easy on the Water Injection   ;)
