Water tight Kick?
« on: May 04, 2004, 10:45:50 PM »
I learned 2 lesson last weekend while wheelin'.

Lesson 1: Sidekicks aren't water tight
Lesson 2: Don't tell your wife that you discovered that your Sidekick isn't water tight!  ;)

While stuck in a DEEP hole, water started coming in through the door seals at the bottom.  I want to make it water tight and then get a snorkel for it.

The question is how do you make a Sidekick water tight?
???

Put it in a big plastic bag?

Maybe close the doors, and rhino-line the interior, sealing them shut?  You don't need to make it water-tight, just make it water tolerant!  That means new seats, a snorkel, and maybe move the ECU up to a higher location (good luck with that!)

i burried mine up to the side door trim once, but the mud was to thick to seep in, got lucky.  (embarassing part was getting pulled out by a jeep :-[)  but it made me think about this too.  i have not done anything yet but am considering puting on an exta door seal or some kind of bead behind the current one to make it seal tighter.  let us know what you do...

ya, rhino lining sounds like the only idea, i flooded mine once like that and the carpets have been out ever since, along with the drain plugs
not as warm and comfy as it was, but there are so many screw holes etc water can seep through even if you do get the door sealed perfectly, i'd like to see it tried though! i dont think i ever have
