I wouldnt think it would matter. The oil pump is aligned by two dowel pins on the front of the engine. Those studs must be to help with installation of the oil pan. Recently, I did this job. I just spun out the studs with a pair of vice grips, then re-installed them the same way. If you grab them lightly it doesnt damage the threads and they spun out really easy. I didnt have to remove the oil pan.
