Clutch cables
« on: July 24, 2011, 06:30:31 PM »
I know that we (ZUKIWORLD Challenge teams) lost two clutch cables in this race, did anyone loose one last year?  I am trying to figure out if it is the heat from pushing the motors hard, or just two failures in one race.

I lost one but that's because its physically gone! You never know what'll happen to your rig if you leave it out in the desert for any length of time. ;)

...but seriously. I used to have tons of problems with clutch cables & headers... It seems that with the heat shielding gone, the wall of the cable gets cooked and then looses integrity... Header wrap / heat tape may be the way to go.

Eric,

Do you know if the Sport Hydrolic clutch requires much modification to work with the standard Tracker?  Just wondering if it might be easier to switch, remove that particular point of failure.

Mine was sawed through because the engine mount collapsed and it came into contact with the power steering pulley.  I have never had one fail under normal stresses.
