96 16v motor into a 95 16v body

hey guys a little help. will i need the 96 ecm knowing that the motor is newer? what else will i need. i've tried the search botton and most articles are old and not really helpful.

well this is what im dealing with
body: 95 geo tracker lsi
old engine: blown 1.6 16v
new engine: (rebuild 96) 1.6 16v

You will need to use the 95 intake with the 96 longblock.  You might have to swap over the 95 distributor as well. 

The 95 is OBD I and the 96 is OBD II.  The 96 is more complex and has more sensors.

The 95 also uses an oil pump without a spot for the crank position sensor.  So you can swap that out and keep your original oil pan.

Yeah, but he could still run the 96 pan and not hook up the sensor. 

I also think if he wanted to run the 95 pan he would also need to run the 95 oil pump.  Otherwise, he would have the hole in the oil pump for the sensor.
