Since the hacking I had installed McAfee Total Protection because it was time. Along with this I typically will every couple of weeks delete cookies, clean up discs, and run a Defrag.

If I download the Vipre software is there a charge? Will it be conterproductive to my existing virus protection software? Will there be additional maintenance I will need to do for this software as well?

These may sound like silly questions to some but I know enough on how to use some software but not diddily about the installation and maintenance of most. I would rather ask a few questions now than be on the phone or shadowed by a web assistant trying to resolve "Over my Head" opertunities.

It will not FUBAR your other AV - especially if you are running in SafeMade as everything will be essentially turned off. IT may find the quarintine folder from your other AV and clean it out ... and that is ok.

As far as system clean up I download CCLeaner (free, free, free) from piriform. It does a good job of cleaning out all the nooks and crannys.
