trackick 3-spd tranny leaking...need advice
« on: November 12, 2010, 11:18:23 AM »
hows it going everyone, my 97 Geo tracker is leaking transmission fluid i replaced the torque converter plug and just did the oil pan gasket about 3 weeks ago, thought it was all good then it started leaking again little by little, i think its just the rear seal but i talked to a guy at trans connection and he said the transmission is shot because the input shaft is wobbling like crazy and its a internal problem yet the guy that fixed the truck said it was just the seal what to do what to do

Get A second opinion before you do anything else. A 4 speed conversion is possible but you'd need the WHOLE wiring harness too, since the 4 speed is electronicly shifted and has it's own computer that ties in with the rest of the harness.

I run the piss outta mine too.  I have an 89  with over 300k miles.  Mine has been all over hell and back, jumped multiple times,  wrecked and put back together,  driven in 3 feet of water,  and probably any other form of vehicular abuse you can imagine. My trans is leaking at the output shaft too.  It's not a bent shaft, just a bad seal.
