Samurai/tracker help!!!

Alright guys, I bought my samurai with the 1.6 tracker motor in it.  It had the my-fi kit installed on it, the one from zuksoffriad.   Myron is a great guy, i hate bothering him.  I am 19 years old, never messed with offroad vehicles other than quads and dirt bikes. 

I got this thing a while back, drove it for a few weeks and everything went bad. 

long story short, i cannot get this dang thing tuned for nothing. 

This motor has been rebuilt, its like new, so i want to keep my motor.  I am wanting to go to the factory tracker fuel injection.  I do not have any of the parts.  I do however have the motor in.  It is stock samurai computer.  I am just wanting to drive this thing, so bad!

What do i need to get, how hard is it to do?  where can i get the stuff at?

Call Myron and have him help you with tuning.  He is a good guy and will do what needs to be done to help you get it tuned properly.
If you want to run the trackick EFI, you will need the trackick intake with all the sensors and throttle body, complete engine and underdash wiring harness with ECM, high pressure fuel pump, trackick distributor, coil.  You may have some of these parts already.
Finding the parts used, would be your best bet...local classifieds, online classifieds, salvage yards, etc.

no ive tried like everything, as far as tuning..if he was closer id let him do it. idk if somethings bad or what. its been messed up for several months i just wanna drive it.  i already have the motor, myron said i could use the fuel pump that i have now, i have the tracker distributor and coil as well.  does the harness need to be cut or modified for the 8 valve? wheres all the sensors at?

Yeah, the wiring will have to be modified/adapted.
Most sensors are on the intake manifold and the pressure sensor is on the firewall, by the battery.

The my-fi system is a real pain to tune.  A friend of mine has it on the 1.3L and it took almost 3 months of fiddling to get everything correct.  Including almost a week of Johnson Valley with getting vapor in the system and having the entire thing die for 30 minutes while it cooled back down.  Once it was up and running properly though it's worked great. 

If you just want to get going you might look at a carb setup, the mi-side works great and side-draft carbs can run at angles that will kill a normal carb setup. And no wires are needed.

Do you have a donor 8 valve vehicle to use for the fuel injection setup?

dont really want to go with a carb setup. i know where a salvage yard is at the i can get stuff very cheap from.  they have 6 or 7 trackers there.  also myron dont have a my side for the tracker.  how hard is the wiring harness to do yourself?  Does anyone happen to have any of these parts laying around from when they put the my-fi system on their zuk?

just looked |removethispart|@ myrons website.  it looks like he does infact make the myside for the 1.3's and the 1.6's.  I dont really get in any crazy angles or anything. i just want to drive it honestly.  You guys think that would be the easier route?  whats the difference between the my-side1 and my-side2

I believe one comes with a new intake and the other you have to provide your own from a 1.3L engine, which is compatible with the 1.6L 8 valve head.

When going the carb route some people just grab the 1.3L intake and exhaust and throw it in the larger motor.  Some do intake porting, some don't.  As for easiest, unless your going to have someone to wire everything for you a carb is almost always easier.  You will need a new lower preasure fuel pump and a probably a pressure regulator, but that should be about it.

Now as for what is best in the long run, I can't help you with that.  You already have a capable fuel pump and if you don't mind doing a lot of wire chasing switching to a fuel injected setup would probably be the best route to go.  If you want to go that route my recommendation would be to get the entire vehicle, or at least have the junk yard set it aside for you until the conversion is done.  Sometimes you end up needing an extra part of bit of wiring that is only available on the single model year California edition vehicle you got the injection system from.  The best way to make sure that is true is to allow the car you get it from to be demolished.

alright, i talked to myron, and he told me what i got to find myself.  He shot me a price of what i got to pay, plus give him the my-fi stuff i have.  He was willing to work with me on it, even though i didn't buy the my-fi kit, it was already installed on my zuk when i got it.  I think the carb setup will do wonders for me, im not at serious angles, i want to use it for some minor offroading, and a highway driver.  I am looking forward to getting this thing on the road again.  What should my timing be set at for this motor with a low end cam?
