tranmission switch.
« on: August 22, 2010, 10:33:14 AM »
i have a 1995 sidekick 16v with a 5 speed transmission that needs a rebuild, i also have a 93 sidekick 16v 5 speed with a good transmission. and i was wondering if i could switch the trannys with out any problems. i also am wondering if it would be easier to just drop the tranny, or to pull out the engine connected to the tranny.

Swap away, they will interchange.

If the combo is too heavy, you could drop the T-case from
each so you can work easier

I would just drop the tranny and tcase out.  Pulling them with the engine might be kinda difficult.

Just an idea. 4 mount bolts, un plug this disconnect that. And the engines out. If removing an engine was that easy it woudnt be any fun.....
